SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 503
	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
	recognize the Hemphill County Airport, which has been selected
	to receive the 2015 Most Improved General Aviation Airport of
	the Year award; and
	WHEREAS, This award recognizes a general aviation or
	reliever airport that has undergone significant upgrades to
	better fulfill the needs of the region it serves; and
	WHEREAS, The Hemphill County Airport is located in the
	center of one of the largest oil reserves in the Texas Panhandle,
	and as oil production has expanded in the region, the demand for
	services at the airport has increased; and
	WHEREAS, In 2012, airport management and local officials
	partnered with the Texas Department of Transportation Aviation
	Division to plan and implement a number of improvements at the
	airport; and
	WHEREAS, Among the most notable renovations are newly
	upgraded and expanded runways, taxiways, and aprons, and a new,
	state-of-the-art lighting system; the improvement project has
	opened the airport to a wider variety of businesses and has
	increased the weight-bearing capacity of a runway to handle
	larger aircraft; and
	WHEREAS, Local officials, airport management, and area
	residents recognize the important economic contributions that
	the airport brings to the community, and the recent improvements
	have positioned the airport to meet the increasing demands of the
	future; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
	Legislature, hereby commend all who have participated in the
	improvements to the Hemphill County Airport and congratulate
	them on the airport's selection as the 2015 Most Improved General
	Aviation Airport of the Year; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
	honor of the Hemphill County Airport.
