SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 248
	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
	welcome the members of the Garland Chamber of Commerce who are
	visiting the State Capitol on February 25, 2015; and
	WHEREAS, The Garland Chamber of Commerce has been diligently
	working to advance the economic, industrial, professional, and
	civic welfare of Garland for more than 117 years; and
	WHEREAS, In addition to recruiting companies that have
	grown to become large-scale business enterprises, the chamber
	has supported small businesses and created programs that have led
	to a successful education system; it is the first chamber to host
	a Small Business Development Center and is the founder of the
	BEST Education Foundation; and
	WHEREAS, The fifth largest city in the Dallas/Fort Worth
	Metroplex, Garland has been rated among the top 100 best places
	to live in the United States; as a member of the Garland Economic
	Development Partnership, the Garland Chamber of Commerce has
	helped create and retain more than 18,000 jobs and a $1.5 billion
	tax base in the city; and
	WHEREAS, The Garland Chamber of Commerce has played a
	pivotal role in the development of a diverse economy; members of
	the chamber remain committed to improving the lives of area
	residents, and they can justifiably be proud of their many
	achievements; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
	Legislature, hereby recognize February 25, 2015, as Garland
	Chamber of Commerce Day at the State Capitol and extend to the
	visiting delegation best wishes for a memorable visit to Austin;
	and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
	the chamber as a memento of this special occasion.
