SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1031
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Robert Wayne Strauser
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Robert Wayne Strauser,
  who died May 21, 2015, at the age of 71; and
         WHEREAS, Bob Strauser was born August 8, 1943, in Little
  Rock, Arkansas; he moved with his family to Texas as a teenager,
  and he became the first member of his family to attend college; he
  pursued his dream of becoming a lawyer and earned a degree from
  The University of Texas School of Law; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Strauser served his country with distinction
  as a member of the Judge Advocate General's Corps of the United
  States Navy Reserve, and he retired with the rank of captain
  after years of proud service; and
         WHEREAS, He was hired as a drafting attorney for the Texas
  Legislative Council in the fall of 1968, and he went on to serve
  as general counsel to the House of Representatives' Judiciary
  Committee; and
         WHEREAS, He left the public sector in 1974 to form the
  Texas Association of Taxpayers; in his role with the association,
  he remained an active presence at the Capitol representing the
  interests of small and large businesses; he joined the Baker and
  Botts law firm in 1984, and after his retirement from the firm in
  2008, he continued to represent clients before the legislature
  until the week before his passing; and
         WHEREAS, A respected member of the community, Mr. Strauser
  lived his faith by giving selflessly of his time to friends,
  colleagues, and those in need; he was a generous supporter of the
  Austin Symphony Orchestra, and he was a longtime member of the
  Board of Visitors of The University of Texas McDonald
  Observatory; and
         WHEREAS, A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Bob
  Strauser was beloved by many, and he will long be remembered with
  affection and admiration by all who were privileged to share in
  his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Robert Wayne Strauser; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Bob Strauser.
