R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Harmony Science Academy in San Antonio has been |
|
ranked 78th in the state and 695th nationwide in the 2015 list of |
|
America's Best High Schools published by U.S. News and World |
|
Report; and |
|
WHEREAS, The magazine analyzed approximately 19,700 public |
|
high schools across the country, and of those schools, 2.5 percent |
|
were awarded gold medals, 10.3 percent silver, and 20.2 percent |
|
bronze; Harmony Science Academy earned a silver medal by posting |
|
high scores for such academic indicators as college readiness, |
|
student-teacher ratio, proficiency in English and mathematics, and |
|
Advanced Placement participation; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ably led by principal Yasar Cakir, Harmony Science |
|
Academy provides a safe, caring, and collaborative atmosphere to a |
|
diverse student population of approximately 900 in grades K-12; the |
|
academy is one of 43 tuition-free Harmony Public Schools, which |
|
boast a 0 percent dropout rate and a 100 percent college acceptance |
|
rate; and |
|
WHEREAS, Harmony Science Academy has equipped many young |
|
Texans in House District 124 with the knowledge and skills |
|
necessary for success in the years to come, and the school is indeed |
|
deserving of recognition for this outstanding achievement; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Harmony Science Academy on its |
|
ranking as the 78th best high school in the state and that its |
|
students, faculty, and administrators be extended sincere best |
|
wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
