R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Oliver Wendell Holmes High School in San Antonio
  celebrated the 50th anniversary of its founding during the
  2014-2015 school year; and
         WHEREAS, The school was opened in 1964 and named for Oliver
  Wendell Holmes Jr., associate justice of the United States Supreme
  Court from 1902 until 1932; the campus, noted for its distinctive
  circular architecture, serves around 2,800 students from Bexar
  County; part of the Northside Independent School District, the
  school is home to the Business Careers High School magnet program,
  and dual-credit courses are available through Northwest Vista
  College; and
         WHEREAS, Now under the able leadership of principal Ada
  Bohlken and vice principal Lisa Hahne, Holmes High School provides
  its students with the opportunity to participate in a wide range of
  extracurricular activities, offering Academic University
  Interscholastic League events in a variety of disciplines,
  including social studies, theater, band, computer science,
  journalism, and speech; the school also sponsors football,
  baseball, basketball, soccer, and track teams, and students produce
  the quarterly publication Gavel Magazine as well as daily news
  broadcasts for the Holmes/Business Careers Network; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of the last half-century, Oliver
  Wendell Holmes High School has given numerous area youths a strong
  academic foundation on which to build, and it has made a lasting and
  positive impact in the lives of several generations of San Antonio
  residents; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of Oliver
  Wendell Holmes High School and extend to its administration,
  faculty, staff, and students sincere best wishes for the future;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
