Limitation
on
employers

firearms
and
ammunition.

1.
For
purposes
of
this
section,
“employee”
includes
a
3
contract
employee
or
volunteer.

2.
An
employer
shall
not
prohibit
an
employee
from
carrying,
5
transporting,
or
possessing
a
firearm
or
ammunition
if
the
6
firearm
and
ammunition
are
out
of
sight
and
inside
the
locked
7
motor
vehicle
of
the
employee
on
the
real
property
comprising
8
the
employee’s
place
of
employment,
provided
the
motor
vehicle
9
is
parked
in
a
location
designated
or
allowed
for
employee
10
parking,
and
if
the
carrying,
transportation,
or
possession
of
11
the
firearm
or
ammunition
is
otherwise
lawful
under
the
laws
12
of
this
state.

An
employer,
owner,
or
lawful
possessor
of
the
property
14
on
which
the
employer
is
located
shall
be
immune
from
any
15
claim,
cause
of
action,
or
lawsuit
brought
by
any
person
16
seeking
damages
that
are
alleged,
directly
or
indirectly,
as
a
17
result
of
any
firearm
or
ammunition
brought
onto
the
property
18
of
the
employer,
owner,
or
lawful
possessor
by
an
employee
19
pursuant
to
this
section.

EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
22
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
provides
that
an
employer
shall
not
prohibit
an
24
employee,
which
includes
a
contract
employee
or
volunteer,
25
from
carrying,
transporting,
or
possessing
a
firearm
or
26
ammunition
on
the
real
property
comprising
the
employee’s
place
27
of
employment
if
the
firearm
and
ammunition
are
out
of
sight
28
and
inside
the
locked
motor
vehicle
of
the
employee,
provided
29
the
vehicle
is
parked
in
a
location
designated
or
allowed
for
30
employee
parking,
and
if
the
carrying,
transportation,
or
31
possession
of
the
firearm
or
ammunition
is
otherwise
lawful
32
under
Iowa
law.
The
bill
further
provides
that
an
employer,

owner,
or
lawful
possessor
of
the
property
on
which
the
34
employer
is
located
is
immune
from
any
claim
brought
by
any
