Section
1.
Section
724.4B,
subsection
2,
Code
2020,
is
1
amended
by
adding
the
following
new
paragraph:

NEW
PARAGRAPH
.
d.
A
person
who
has
in
the
person’s
3
possession
a
valid
permit
to
carry
weapons
issued
pursuant
to
4
section
724.7
and
remains
on
the
portion
of
school
district
5
property
that
comprises
its
driveways
and
parking
lots
while
6
going
armed
with,
carrying,
or
transporting
a
concealed
pistol
7
or
revolver.
A
school
shall
be
immune
from
any
claim,
cause
8
of
action,
or
lawsuit
by
a
person
seeking
damages
that
are
9
alleged,
directly
or
indirectly,
as
a
result
of
any
concealed
10
pistol
or
revolver
brought
onto
the
school
district
property
by
11
a
person
pursuant
to
this
paragraph.
This
paragraph
shall
not
12
apply
to
a
school
governed
by
the
board
of
regents
pursuant
to
13
section
262.7.

EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
16
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
relates
to
going
armed
with,
carrying,
or
18
transporting
weapons
on
school
district
property.
19
The
bill
provides
that
a
person
who
has
in
the
person’s
20
possession
a
valid
nonprofessional
permit
to
carry
weapons
21
may
go
armed
with,
carry,
or
transport
a
concealed
pistol
22
or
revolver
on
school
district
property
that
comprises
its
23
driveways
and
parking
lots.
The
bill
provides
that
a
school
24
shall
be
immune
from
any
claim,
cause
of
action,
or
lawsuit
25
by
a
person
seeking
damages
that
are
alleged,
directly
or
26
indirectly,
as
a
result
of
a
concealed
pistol
or
revolver
27
brought
onto
school
district
property
by
a
person
pursuant
to
28
the
bill.
The
bill
does
not
apply
to
a
school
governed
by
the
29
board
of
regents
pursuant
to
Code
section
262.7.

A
person
who
goes
armed
with,
carries,
or
transports
a
31
firearm
on
the
grounds
of
a
school
in
violation
of
Code
section
32
724.4B
commits
a
class
“D”
felony.
A
class
“D”
felony
is
33
punishable
by
confinement
for
no
more
than
five
years
and
a
34
fine
of
at
least
$750
but
not
more
than
$7,500.
