Amends the School Code. Requires a school board to prohibit teachers, school administrators, or other persons employed at a school, employed by the school or by a third party, from carrying a firearm on school grounds. Exempts safety personnel from the prohibition. Prohibits a school board from authorizing exceptions. Effective immediately.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections |
| 5 | | 10-31 and 34-18.78 as follows:
|

| 7 | | Sec. 10-31. Prohibit employee firearms. |
| 8 | | (a) For the purposes of this Section, "safety personnel" |
| 9 | | means a school resource officer, law enforcement officer, or |
| 10 | | security guard. |
| 11 | | (b) Each school board shall prohibit teachers, school |
| 12 | | administrators, or other persons employed at a school, |
| 13 | | employed by the school or by a third party, from carrying |
| 14 | | firearms on school grounds. This prohibition does not apply to |
| 15 | | safety personnel. |
| 16 | | (c) A school board may not authorize or permit any |
| 17 | | exception to or exemption from the prohibition.
