AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 331




2 AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 331, AS AMENDED, by 
3replacing everything after the enacting clause with the 
4following:


5 "Section 1. Short title; references to Act. This Act may be 
6cited as the Expressway Camera Act.
7 References to Act. This Act may be referred to as the 
8Tamara Clayton Expressway Camera Act.

9 Section 5. Camera program. 
10 (a) The Illinois State Police, the Illinois Department of

11Transportation, and the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority

12shall work together to conduct a program to increase the amount

13of cameras along expressways in Cook County.
14 (b) Images from the cameras may be used by any municipal 
15police department, county sheriff's office, State Police 
16officer, or other law enforcement agency with jurisdiction over

1the expressway in Cook County in the investigation of any 
2offense involving the use of a firearm and to detect expressway 
3hazards. Images from the cameras shall not be used to enforce 
4petty offenses.
5 (c) Subject to appropriation, any funds needed to conduct 
6the program for use on expressways under the jurisdiction of 
7the Department of Transportation shall be taken from the Road 
8Fund.
9 (d) As used in this Section, "expressway" has the meaning 
10provided in Section 1-119.3 of the Illinois Vehicle Code.

11 Section 90. Repeal. This Act is repealed on July 1, 2023.".
