| 2 |  |  WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  | 
| 3 |  | learn of the death of Robert Dean Albracht of Rock Island, who  | 
| 4 |  | passed away on February 6, 2015; and
 | 
| 5 |  |  WHEREAS, Robert Albracht was born on September 26, 1943 to  | 
| 6 |  | Germaine and Leander Albracht; he graduated from Alleman High  | 
| 7 |  | School in 1961; he served with the United States Army in  | 
| 8 |  | Vietnam and married Nanette Sheley on August 14, 1971; he  | 
| 9 |  | graduated with a degree in civil engineering from the  | 
| 10 |  | University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1976; and
 | 
| 11 |  |  WHEREAS, Robert Albracht worked as a civil engineer for  | 
| 12 |  | more than 20 years, primarily with the United States Army Corps  | 
| 13 |  | of Engineers on Arsenal Island; he continued to serve his  | 
| 14 |  | country in the United States Army Reserve; he made a career  | 
| 15 |  | change and joined the St. Louis Division of the Drug  | 
| 16 |  | Enforcement Administration (DEA) as a criminal intelligence  | 
| 17 |  | officer; and
 | 
| 18 |  |  WHEREAS, Robert Albracht retired from the DEA after being  | 
| 19 |  | recalled to active military duty following the attacks on  | 
| 20 |  | September 11, 2001; as a United States Army Criminal  | 
| 21 |  | Investigative Division Special Agent, he was sent to the  | 
| 22 |  | Pentagon crash site, where he performed evidence recovery and  | 
     |

| 1 |  | forensics duty; thereafter, he was assigned to a protection  | 
| 2 |  | detail for the Secretary of Defense and the U.S. Army Joint  | 
| 3 |  | Chiefs of Staff; he then led a Drug Suppression Team at Fort  | 
| 4 |  | Stewart, Georgia, where he was recognized for his outstanding  | 
| 5 |  | performance; and
 | 
| 6 |  |  WHEREAS, Robert Albracht served with the 5th Special Forces  | 
| 7 |  | Group in Vietnam and wore his green beret with pride; he was a  | 
| 8 |  | combat-decorated veteran with 22 years of service and was the  | 
| 9 |  | recipient of 2 Bronze Stars (one for Combat Valor), 2 Army  | 
| 10 |  | commendations (one for Combat Valor), the Combat Infantryman's  | 
| 11 |  | Badge, and numerous other awards and decorations; in recent  | 
| 12 |  | years, he had become active in Vietnam Veterans of America  | 
| 13 |  | Chapter 299, serving as its secretary; and
 | 
| 14 |  |  WHEREAS, Robert Albracht spent his time traveling with his  | 
| 15 |  | wife, working out at the Arsenal, restoring his (still  | 
| 16 |  | incomplete) 1973 Firebird, guiding his sons in home improvement  | 
| 17 |  | projects, and tirelessly renovating his home -- a still  | 
| 18 |  | unfinished project 31 years in the works; he still found time  | 
| 19 |  | to serve his local community as a Reserve Police Sergeant with  | 
| 20 |  | the Rock Island Auxiliary Police Force; and
 | 
| 21 |  |  WHEREAS, Robert Albracht was preceded in death by his  | 
| 22 |  | parents; his son, Grant Michael; his sister, Mary Beth Hicock;  | 
| 23 |  | and his brother-in-law, John (Jack) Sheley; and
 | 
     |

| 1 |  |  WHEREAS, Robert Albracht is survived by his wife of 43  | 
| 2 |  | years, Nanette; his daughter and son-in-law, Danielle Albracht  | 
| 3 |  | and Edward Jack; his sons and daughters-in-law Brandon and  | 
| 4 |  | Ashley Albracht and Jerad and Elizabeth Albracht; his  | 
| 5 |  | grandchildren, Molly, Natalie, Kellan, Shay, Erin, and Trent;  | 
| 6 |  | his sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Paul Fischer; his  | 
| 7 |  | brother and sister-in-law, William and Mary Albracht; his  | 
| 8 |  | brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Beth Albracht; his  | 
| 9 |  | brother-in-law, Jeff Hicock; his sisters-in-law, Nancy  | 
| 10 |  | Michalski and Ann Sheley; numerous nieces and nephews; a large,  | 
| 11 |  | loving, extended family; and friends too numerous to count;  | 
| 12 |  | therefore, be it
 | 
| 13 |  |  RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL  | 
| 14 |  | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of  | 
| 15 |  | Robert Dean Albracht, and extend our sincere condolences to his  | 
| 16 |  | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it  | 
| 17 |  | further
 | 
| 18 |  |  RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be  | 
| 19 |  | presented to the family of Robert Albracht as an expression of  | 
| 20 |  | our deepest sympathy.
