HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, On August 2, 2015, Wildwood in Lake County was hit
3by a tornado; and
4 WHEREAS, In the face of this disaster, the Youth
5Conservation Corps, staffed by Tom Berry, Bill Foltz, Tyrone
6McGee, Marvin Reddick, Ben Richards, Robert Shears, and Fred
7Williams, went to work to help those who were in desperate need
8of support; and
9 WHEREAS, The Youth Conservation Corps is a summer
10employment program that brings together young adults ages 15 to
1118 in an effort to restore and protect natural parks; while
12their work projects typically involve tasks such as the removal
13of invasive plants and habitat preservation, when called upon
14during this crisis, they proved to be capable of much more; and
15 WHEREAS, After the tornado hit, these young leaders, whose
16members included Ragean Anderson, Julian Amos, Cody Bond, Chris
17Coburn, Emanuel Cruz, Irene Hernandez, Jose Lopez, Kwentin
18Mayfield, Sierra Riley, Joshua Robles, Daviontae Sims, Tamera
19Wallace, and Dale Watson, jumped into action, clearing fallen
20debris and helping members of the community cope with what had
21just happened; and

1 WHEREAS, To date, these 13 Youth Conservation Corps members
2and 7 Youth Conservation Corps staff have engaged in over 250
3service hours and positively impacted not only the 11 homes
4which they helped clear, but also a large park operated by the
5Wildwood Park District; therefore, be it
6 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
8thank the members of the Youth Conservation Corps for their
9efforts in the aftermath of the tornado in Wildwood, not only
10on behalf of the residents whose houses they cleared, but also
11on behalf of the entire community of Wildwood and the citizens
12of this State; and be it further
13 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the Youth Conservation Corps as a symbol of our
15thanks and appreciation for their service to the Wildwood
16community and the State of Illinois.
