2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Michael A. Holub on the |
4 | | occasion of his retirement as the Chief of Police of the |
5 | | Village of La Grange in 2015; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Chief Holub began his 40-year career in law |
7 | | enforcement in 1974, when he joined the Stickney Police |
8 | | Department; he was promoted to Sergeant in 1981, to Patrol |
9 | | Shift Commander in 1987, and to Deputy Chief of Police in 1988; |
10 | | later in 1988, he became Chief of Police of the Stickney Police |
11 | | Department; he became Chief of Police of the Palos Park Police |
12 | | Department in 1995 and of the River Forest Police Department in |
13 | | 1998; in 2003, he became Chief of Police of the La Grange |
14 | | Police Department; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Chief Holub has received |
16 | | numerous awards and has been involved with numerous |
17 | | organizations; he received the Excellence in Law Enforcement |
18 | | Award in 2013 from the Special Agents Association and the Law |
19 | | Enforcement Award from the Illinois State Bar Association in |
20 | | 2012; in 2010, the American Legion Department of Illinois named |
21 | | him its Law Enforcement Officer of the Year, and he was a |
22 | | member of its Disaster Relief Committee; he received the La |
23 | | Grange Area NAACP's Award of Appreciation in 2006 and the La |

1 | | Grange Business Association's Public Servant Award in 2003; he |
2 | | was a past member of Triton College's Criminal Justice |
3 | | Department's Adjunct Faculty, where he was named Outstanding |
4 | | Adjunct Faculty Member in 2002; he is a member of the FBI |
5 | | National Academy Associates, where he was named the Northern |
6 | | Illinois Division Member of the Year in 2002 and served as |
7 | | President of the Illinois Chapter in 2007; he served as the |
8 | | Public Affairs Director and Military Liaison for the United |
9 | | States Department of Defense's Employer Support for the Guard |
10 | | and Reserve (ESGR) for Illinois, for which he was selected as |
11 | | National ESGR Public Affairs Volunteer of the Year in 2012 and |
12 | | received the Illinois ESGR Seven Seals Award twice, the |
13 | | President's Volunteer Service Award 8 times, the Department of |
14 | | Defense Patriot Award 3 times, and the Department of Defense |
15 | | Above and Beyond Award in January of 2010; he served as a |
16 | | Personnel Committee member for the Northeast Multi-Regional |
17 | | Police Training Board and as Parliamentarian for the West |
18 | | Suburban Chiefs of Police Association, where he was also a past |
19 | | President and life member; he served as past Chairman of the |
20 | | Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police's Police Chiefs |
21 | | Certification Committee and as past Chair of its Executive |
22 | | Search Committee; he was past President of the 5th District |
23 | | Police Chiefs Association; he served in the United States |
24 | | Army's Old Guard, where was presented with the Meritorious Unit |
25 | | Citation; he was a life member and a member of the board of |
26 | | directors of The Old Guard Association; he received the United |

1 | | States Army's National Defense Service Medal; and
|
2 | | WHEREAS, Chief Holub has authored articles in the FBI's |
3 | | National Academy Associate magazine and in Command Magazine; |
4 | | and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Chief Holub received his Associate of Arts from |
6 | | Morton College in 1979; he attended the FBI Executive |
7 | | Development Course for Police Chiefs in 1988 and the FBI |
8 | | National Academy in 1993; he received his Bachelor of Arts in |
9 | | Criminal and Social Justice from Lewis University in 1995; he |
10 | | attended the FBI Midwest Law Enforcement Executive Development |
11 | | Seminar in 1997; he received his Master of Arts in Law |
12 | | Enforcement and Justice Administration from Western Illinois |
13 | | University in 1997; he became a certified police chief in 2001 |
14 | | (recertified in 2006 and 2011) and attended the Western |
15 | | Illinois University Fire Protection Services Program from 2002 |
16 | | to 2003; and

17 | | WHEREAS, Chief Holub will be honored at a retirement dinner |
18 | | on January 24, 2015 at Crystal Sky Banquets in McCook; |
19 | | therefore, be it

20 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
21 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
