   An act relating to transportation.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   SB 541, as introduced, Hill. Public Utilities Commission:
transportation companies.
   The California Constitution establishes the Public Utilities
Commission, with jurisdiction over public utilities, and authorizes
the commission to fix rates and establish rules for, among other
things, the transportation of passengers and property by
transportation companies.
   This bill would express the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation to improve the regulation of transportation companies by
the Public Utilities Commission.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  It is the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation to improve the regulation of transportation companies by
the Public Utilities Commission.
