   An act relating to state prisons.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   SB 892, as introduced, Hancock. State prisons.
   Existing law establishes the Department of Corrections and
Rehabilitation to oversee the state prison system.
   This bill would declare that it is the intent of the Legislature
to enact legislation to address or modify the use of segregated
housing units in the state prison system.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  It is the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation to address or modify the use of segregated housing units
in the state prison system.
