Directions:
The Camp Fickes Shooting Range is located in the Pike National Forest near Lake Wellington, southeast of Bailey.
.Range Rules:
Rule 1 Be sure the range is clear of personnel, animals and equipment before firing
Rule 2 Only one firing line may be used at any one time
Rule 3 If there is a conflict of range use, the individual engaged in shooting practice shall have an additional hour, starting at the time of contact, to complete that activity before relinquishing the firing line choice to another participant who wishes to use the range for shooting practice.
Rule 4 No open fires are allowed on range property
Rule 5 When changing the pit crews or target on the short range, All firearms must be unloaded and have actions open with OBI (open bolt indicators) inserted
Rule 6 All shots must land in the designated impact areas. The designated impact areas are; Large impact area directly west of the target pits, silhouette berms in front of the 600 yard firing line, or the 3 impact areas on the short range- 25 yard, 50 yard, 100 yard
Rule 7 All non-shooters must remain behind the Ready Line
Rule 8 No alcohol or drugs allowed on the premises
Rule 9 Displaying or brandishing a firearm in a threatening manner toward another person or towards club property will not be tolerated. The authorities will be notified.
Rule 10 All commands shall be given by the Official-In-Charge or the firing line, and all commands will be explicitly obeyed. NOTE: Anyone may call a cease fire. The Official-In-Charge may call a cease fire due to dangerous conditions, such as unsafe actions, threatening weather (lightening), etc. In all matters the decision of the Official-In-Charge shall be final.
Rule 11 Shooters under 18 years old must be accompanied and supervised by and adult.
Rule 12 Non-members shall be under the supervision and direction of the member(s) present unless they have special range use permission. Members shall be responsible for the conduct of their guests.
Rule 13 Members are to ask strangers the reason for their presence at the range and explain that use of the range is on a per person/family fee schedule.
Rule 14 No camping is permitted on range property.
Rule 15 All brass will be policed regardless of type. caliber, or the firing line the brass is generated from, to include steel case throwaways and shotgun shells.
Rule 16 There is no trash service at the range, so be prepared to packout whatever trash you and your guests generate. "IF IT DID NOT GROW HERE...IT DOESN'T BELONG HERE!"
Rule 17 The firing of .50 BMG caliber firearms is prohibited on this range. You may not shoot any Tracer, Incendiary or Exploding ammunition on range property. There is always a high fire danger.
Rule 18 When shooting from any firing point downrange of the 600 yard line, all shooters are required to place the safety barricade (gate) across the road by the STAT House. "By all means enjoy yourself, and have fun and USE A LIBERAL AMOUNT OF COMMON SENSE.
It only takes one individual to create a problem that will affect and touch the lives of hundreds of others.
PERSONS NOT COMPLYING WITH THESE RANGE RULES WILL BE SUBJECTTO :
MEMBERS WILL BE SUSPEND ED OR TERMINATED.
NON-MEMBERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO LEAVE THE RANGE AND NOT ALLOWED BACK.
VIOLATING THE RULES MAY RESULT IN A TICKET AND SUMMONS TO COURT, PER COLORADO STATUTES OR WORSE- SOMEONE MIGHT GET SERIOUSLY HURT OR DIE
